Nice of them to give something to rant about at the same time!  These guys really don't want customers any more, do they?

Is it worth bothering with Dreamwidth now, or should I just fully decamp to G+ ?

Woah - this is the first of the new style comments boxes that I have come across, mine seem to be the same as usual.
I have to say I don't like it a great deal :(

Anywhere you use the default page skin you get the super-duper new version, which gives:
default font changed to ariel (hurl), in a random size that seems to massively smaller or larger depending on platform - for me it's about 1/2 the old size - Verdana was much easier on the eye imo.
no more subject lines. They are no more. They have gone to meet their maker.
no preview or spell check button
more animation that takes longer to load - page loads are MUCH heavier.
page refreshes now collapse any expanded posts
you cannot click into a thread and just view the 20 comment subsection - you have to have ALL comments (like 2000 of them in the feedback for release entry)
no parent buttons
a new whizzy usericon selector instead of the text pulldown that took one second, you name must have all graphics loaded, in a random order, with broken searching/keywords, requiring you to scroll through a bunch of pics you already know, and have shortcuts for, but it now takes seconds (broken entirely if you have 50+ pics apparently).
Lots of new mystery rollovers, and a nice nausea-inducing leaping to the top of the thread when you post on a thread longer than screen length.

So basically nothing appropriate for a textual blogging platform. Aside from that it is super.

They have added a "new comment" badge for highlighting new posts in the thread <-- see, not everything was bad :)

I'm waiting on Dreamwidth mailing that import is complete. (No invites required this week)

What's worse is that even though I have "use my own style" set everywhere I can, commenting here still has the overexposed facebook wannabe page with too much blank blahness.

Regarding G+, until they officially relent on their wallet names ("real" names) nonsense, it's like hanging your dirty underwear out on main street.

DW is the better bet, especially for proper LJ workalike and customer service.

Aye the whole real names thing is ridiculous - especially as they contradict themselves for celebs.

Since posting this I'd hopped onto DW - attitude over that side is very refreshing!
